Johns Hopkins Children’s Centre, Baltimore MD, USA

The Johns Hopkins Children’s Centre is the birthplace of paediatric subspecialty care in the US and is consistently voted among the top children’s hospitals in the nation. The hospital is the world leader in diseases of the aortic arch and is the home of The Dana and Albert "Cubby" Broccoli Centre for Aortic Diseases. In addition the Johns Hopkins Children’s Centre is the leader in two prospective multicenter US studies of aortic disease, the Coarctation Of the Aorta Stent Trial (COAST, Dr. Richard Ringel) [COAST] and the Genetically Triggered Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms and Cardiovascular Conditions (GenTAC, Dr. Kathyrn Holmes) [GenTAC]. As the US leader in WP3 Prof. Allen Everett from JHU will align local case data to the Health-e-Child structure for validation of the Health-e-Child LV dilation model. Subsequently, after alignment of the COAST and GenTAC databases this data will be used to develop new models of childhood congenital aortic disease. In conjunction with OPBG JHU is an essential partner for the ACC and Health-e-Child to develop the infrastructure and interconnectivity to truly expand the usefulness of the Health-e-Child model. This background makes JHU an ideal site for the validation the Health-e-Child models using the large pool of local case data at JHU.
